A young boy is playing in the yard with some toy trains under the watchful eye of his pet dog. A real train rolls by and he runs off to get a closer look. The dog breaks its rope and gives chase after the young boy who has managed to climb aboard the now motionless train. The boy has started the train and is headed towards a collision with another train. The dog saves the boy in the last second before the trains collide.

This is one of 26 Private SNAFU (‘Situation Normal, All Fouled Up) cartoons made by the US Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale the troops. Originally created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, most of the cartoons were produced by Warner Brothers Animation Studios – employing their animators, voice actors (primarily Mel Blanc) and Carl Stalling’s music.

A cat and a dog team up to outwit Herman the mouse. While cats and dogs are natural enemies, such is not the case in the house where Herman the mouse lives. They are very good friends indeed, are work together to make Herman’s life a hard life. Herman tries to break up their friendship, and divert their attention from guarding the cheese in the refrigerator, and almost succeeds but they make up in time to prevent Herman getting the cheese. They give chase and Herman takes refuge in a jug of wine. The cat and the dog drink up the wine while trying to get to Herman and end up drunk, happy and blissful…and so is Herman.

In this he is alternately aided and hampered by the Lilliputian town crier and general fussbudget, Gabby. A life-threatening situation develops when the bumbling trio of Blefiscu spies, Sneak, Snoop, and Snitch, manage to steal Gulliver’s pistol.

Nominated for 2 oscars.

Molly Moo-Cow was an animated character appearing in eight Rainbow Parade shorts produced by the Van Beuren Studios 1935-1937. Many 1930s cartoons joke with ethnicity. In this cartoon cooperation is needed to handle pluralism.

Molly Moo-Cow searches for a lost group of ducks, but instead finds herself rescuing an Indian baby who has fallen into and is floating down the river. The baby’s mother returns the favor, helping Molly rescue the missing ducks from becoming her husband’s dinner.

This is a story of happy gnomes who have the ability to distill sunshine and bottle it in the form of milk, which they deliver around the village. The scenes with the gnomes are in reddish-orange and white. The forest nearby is inhabited by goblins and they are sad. Their scenes are all in blue-and-white. The goblins can’t stand sunshine, because it makes them happy. They attack the gnome village, but the gnomes fight back by bombarding the goblins with milk bottles. Soon the goblins are assimilated and everyone is happy. Why milk? Well, the cartoon was “brought to you” by the Borden Milk Company.
