These guys must be related to Heckle & Jeckle! A
nightmare perched outside the window. As the magpies fight outside, dog and master would like
to get some shuteye. These magpies make things
very hard for the old man and his dog. It’s not
even a fair fight! Ya think we should move into
the doghouse?
This film will forever be known as the first film ever to feature Heckle and Jeckle, the talking magpies. Why the world wanted them, I don?t know, but there they are! The film actually is quite amusing, featuring A dog that looks a lot like Gromit, and several radio personalities (I recognized the Bickersons and The Shadow). Still wondering about the ?Little Flower? refernce though. Also has a ?here we go again? bit, which I love.
This was an okay “talking magpie” cartoon, which means it has decent animation, no story, and obnoxious lead characters. Funny that the original magpies were man and wife; obviously they aren’t Heckle and Jeckle.
“The Little Flower” was a popular nickname given to
Fiorello La Guardia, mayor of New York City. Fiorello is Italian for “little flower” and La Guardia was short of stature, so the name stuck.
